Luvdisc lives on masses in shallow seas in the tropics. Luvdisc nests in both coral reefs and the branches of the coral-like Corsola Pokémon. During the spawning season, countless Luvdisc congregate at coral reefs, turning the waters pink. Luvdisc are said to shoot water at other Luvdisc to show a sign of love.

It is loosely based on true events, as related by MAJ Jim Morris which involved the U.S. Special Forces in 1968, in the tiny South Vietnamese village of Dak Nhe. The film aired on Cartoon Network for the first time ever on September 27, 2008, replacing Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of Sea.
